Putin to take first foreign trip since February
Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Turkmenistan and Tajikistan next week in what will be his first foreign trip since the launch of the military operation in Ukraine on February 24.
In Dushanbe, Putin will hold talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. Negotiations and a working dinner have been planned for the two leaders, the Rossiya 1 channel reported on Sunday.
Putin and Rahmon already met last month, when the Tajik leader became the only foreign head of state to attend the Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9.
The Russian president will then travel to another Central Asian country, Turkmenistan, where the VI Caspian Summit is scheduled to take place on June 29.
The event in the capital city of Ashgabat will bring together the leaders of the countries with access to the Caspian Sea – Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
This will be Putin’s first time outside of Russia since his visit to China in early February for the opening of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing and talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Traveling abroad has been complicated for Russian officials since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, which prompted international sanctions targeting the country and its citizens.
A diplomatic scandal broke out earlier this month after Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Montenegro closed their airspace to the plane of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, forcing him to cancel a planned visit to Serbia.

Chernomorneftegaz drilling platforms came under shelling by Ukrainian troops on Monday, June 20. There were 109 people on them. Three were hurt, seven went missing. The search operation continues.
‘Thank You Macron!’ French Politician Slams Ukraine for Abandoning Howitzers to Russian Forces
A Russian factory which is currently studying the seized French weapons also sarcastically thanked French President Emmanuel Macron for the “gifted” artillery, asking him to send more for disassembly.
French politician and far-right National Rally candidate for the 2022 general election, Jean-Michel Cadenas, has criticized the Ukrainian military for abandoning two Paris-originated Caesar self-propelled howitzers on the battlefield. Cadenas also blasted French President Emmanuel Macron for sending them in the first place.
“Russia has recovered, among other things, two of the first six Caesar howitzers sent by France [to Ukraine]! They were in perfect working order. The Ukrainians withdrew [from their positions] so quickly that they did not have time to either destroy or booby-trap them!” Cadenas wrote on his Twitter account.
The politician went on to recall that following their capture, the howitzers were sent to a Russian defense lab. Cadenas, who is a former army officer himself, alleged that the weapons will be “dissected, studied, copied and improved” by Russia, adding sarcastically, “Thank you, Macron!”
The Uralvagonzavod Russian defense lab which is studying the Caesars also sent its regards to the French president.
“[We] send out gratitude to President Macron for [the] gifted howitzers. We can’t say that they are good howitzers, nothing like our MSTA-S [NATO codename: M1990 “Farm”]. Nonetheless, we will find a good use for them. Please send more for disassembly!” Uralvagonzavod wrote.
Moscow has repeatedly advised western countries against sending weapons to Ukraine, warning that Kiev might not exercise control over where they end up, possibly including in the hands of third-party terrorists looking to compromise European security. The Kremlin also stressed that these shipments unnecessarily prolong the conflict in Ukraine and added that it shows how the West wants to fight “until the last Ukrainian standing” to oppose the Russian special military operation.
These words of caution were hardly heeded by western countries, which continue to send new weapons and ammunition.
West unwilling to answer questions about its mercenaries in Ukraine – Russian diplomat
MOSCOW, June 26. /TASS/. Western countries are reluctant to answer Russia’s questions about their mercenaries in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Sunday.
“As [Russian Ambassador to London Andrey] Kelin said, they [Western countries] are writing some provocative, boorish things. They don’t want to answer the question we ask about their activities,” she said in an interview with the Voskresny Vecher (Sunday Evening) with Vladimir Solovyov on the Rossiya-1 television channel, when asked whether the United States and the United Kingdom have contacted Russia concerning their nationals who are taking part in combat operations in Ukraine.
According to Zakharova, the West is doing its utmost to continue the conflict in Ukraine as long as possible. “They are sparing no effort so that the conflict in Ukraine continued as long as possible. We remember what US 43rd President George Bush Jr said: Ukraine’s mission is to kill as many Russians as possible. <…> They have endowed Ukraine and the Kiev regime with this duty. They are using (Ukraine – TASS) as an instrument and the entire logistics are centered round that – weapons supplies, sending people, anything to keep the conflict burning, as [UK Prime Minister] Boris Johnson told [French President Emmanuel] Macron today, to prevent the settlement of this situation. Otherwise, their plan will fail,” she added.
Turkey not to join anti-Russian sanctions – presidential spokesman
The country is conducting a well-balanced policy in respect of Russia, Ibrahim Kalin said
ANKARA, June 26. /TASS/. Turkey will not join the West’s anti-Russian sanctions over the Ukrainian crisis, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said on Sunday.
“We are conducting a well-balanced policy in respect of Russia. <…> We are not imposing sanctions and will not join them. We must observe our own interests. If everyone ruins the bridges, who will be speaking with Russia then? Our economic relations with Russia have such character that sanctions will do more harm to Turkey’s economy than to Russia’s. We have a clear position [on the matter of sanctions]. The West has not accepted it,” he said in an interview with the Haberturk television channel.
SPECIAL MILITARY OPERATION IN UKRAINE
«We want to unite with the Russians! They are our friends, not the Germans or Europe!»
France 2 journalists interviewed residents of Lysychansk in Luhansk People’s Republic
France 2 journalists visited Lysychansk in LPR and interview civilians – residents wait for Russian military, accuse Ukrainian Army of shelling and do not want to evacuate with them.
In Lysychansk, the Ukrainian army faces the mistrust of a pro-Russian population.
«It’s the Ukrainian army that’s shelling us and killing our children!», «We want to unite with the Russians! They are our friends, not the Germans or Europe», – residents confidently declare to French journalists.
Recall, that Lysychansk is a city in the Sievierodonetsk district where the Ukrainian army come to dislodge local residents from their shelters. About 15,000 residents of Lysychansk are still determined to stay in the city that has become a special military operation zone.
Russia’s defense chief inspects troops involved in special operation in Ukraine
MOSCOW, June 26. /TASS/. Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergey Shoigu inspected the troops involved in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Sunday.
The defense minister heard reports by commanders at troop command posts about the current situation and the operations of the Russian armed forces in major operational areas, the ministry said.
“The defense minister paid special attention to comprehensive logistic support for the troops and measures to create all necessary everyday conditions for the personnel at temporary deployment areas. The minister also decorated Russian servicemen who had displayed heroism and self-sacrifice in the course of fulfilling combat tasks in the special military operation with Hero of the Russian Federation Gold Star medals and Orders of Courage,” the ministry said in a statement posted on its Telegram.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24 that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics for assistance he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in Ukraine. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, noting that the operation was aimed at the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine.
‘Stealthy Logistics & Training’: US Special Ops Cell Reportedly Coordinates Weapons Flow to Ukraine
Moscow has advised western countries against funneling weapons to Ukraine, where it is carrying out a special military operation. The Kremlin warned that the shipments unnecessarily prolong the conflict and suggested that Kiev might not exercise control over where the weaponry might end up, possibly including in the hands of third-party terrorists.
The United States and its western allies have been utilizing a stealthy network of special operations commandos and spies as part of their sweeping effort to provide weapons, intelligence and training to Ukraine, The New York Times reported.
As Russia continues its special operation launched on 24 February to demilitarize and de-Nazify Ukraine, some Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) personnel have continued to secretly operate in the country, mostly in the capital, Kiev, according to current and former US and European officials cited by the outlet.
These operatives have reportedly been helping direct much of the intelligence-sharing between the United States and Kiev’s forces, even as the administration of US President Joe Biden has maintained it will not deploy American troops to Ukraine.
Furthermore, a few dozen commandos from other NATO countries, including Britain, France, Canada and Lithuania, have also been working inside Ukraine, training and advising troops. It is these crack units that have been providing an “on-the-ground conduit” for weapons and other aid funneled into Ukraine by the west, according to cited US officials.
Covert ‘Planning Cell’
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin announced the special operation to demilitarize Ukraine following a plea for assistance from breakaway republics of Donetsk and Luhansk to defend them from intensifying attacks by the Kiev regime.
Before the Ukraine crisis came to a head, the US Army’s 10th Special Forces Group had been training Ukrainian commandos at a base in the country’s west. However, after February 24th it established a coalition “planning cell” in Germany, according to the report. The “cell” was tasked with coordinating military assistance to Ukrainian troops, and has since been augmented by several dozen commandos from other NATO countries, including Britain, France, Canada and Lithuania.
Working within Ukraine, the clandestine outfit is now reportedly represented by 20 nations. The cell’s commandos advise from headquarters scattered across various parts of Ukraine that are further away from the frontlines and often resort to encrypted communications, according to insiders.
As an example of this coordination, several lower-level Ukrainian commanders recently touted the benefits of US intelligence gleaned from satellite imagery seen on tablet computers provided by the allies. The tablets, claimed the report, run a battlefield mapping app that the Ukrainians use in their desperate struggle to put up a resistance to the Russian operation.
The secret cell, claimed the report, and is inherently part of a broader fixture of operational and intelligence coordination cells run by the Pentagon’s European Command outside of Ukraine. Thus, a US Air Force and Air National Guard team – Grey Wolf – reportedly provides support on tactics and techniques to the Ukrainian air force, conducting its operations at Germany’s Ramstein Air Base, according to a cited military spokesman.
Last month, the United States Secretary of the Army, Christine E. Wormuth, praised the special operations cell for its efforts to “manage the flow of weapons and equipment” in Ukraine, recalled the publication.
“As the Ukrainians try to move that around and evade the Russians potentially trying to target convoys, you know, we are trying to be able to help coordinate moving all of those different sort of shipments… Another thing I think we can help with,” she said, “is intelligence about where the threats to those convoys may be,” Wormuth said at a national security event held by the Atlantic Council.
However, much as the CIA may pride itself in providing ’s training in counterterrorism operations, What Ukrainians need right now is classic military training in how to use rocket artillery, like the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS, said Douglas H. Wise, a former deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and retired senior CIA officer.
“I can’t imagine the C.I.A. training Ukrainian guys how to fire HIMARS,” he was cited as saying.
A new US $450 million military package for Ukraine includes HIMARS rocket systems, besides thousands of additional rounds of ammunition, National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said on 23 June. The Biden administration has so far sent four of the mobile multiple-launch rocket systems to Ukraine.
According to Pentagon officials, the first group of 60 Ukrainian soldiers have already been trained on how to use the systems, with a second group undergoing training in Germany.
Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters earlier: “It’s no good to just throw those systems into the battlefield.”
Russia has repeatedly warned the US and its allies about the dangers of sending weapons to Ukraine, stressing that the cargoes are considered a legitimate military target for Russian missiles. Furthermore, according to Moscow, such military assistance only serves to prolong the conflict. Furthermore, it could even risk a direct confrontation with NATO.
These concerns have been cited by several former US officials, according to the report, which cited Douglas H. Wise as adding: “Would the enhancement of the training be worth the possible price that is going to have to be paid? An answer is probably not.”
«Conflict in Ukraine: geopolitical risk, propaganda and threat to Europe» — Readovka.world
The book written by Silvia Boltuc, Giuliano Bifolchi and Daniele Garofalo sheds light on the main purpose of foreign fighters presence on the territory of Ukraine
The authors Silvia Boltuc, Managing Director of SpecialEurasia, Giuliano Bifolchi, doctor of history of Islamic countries and Research Manager of SpecialEurasia, and Daniele Garofalo, analyst specializing in the promotion of jihad and terrorism analyzed the geopolitical risk to Europe caused by the presence of foreign fighters on the territory of Ukraine and the propaganda of jihad and labeled the clash of war between Moscow and Kiev as an «opportunity» for foreign fighters to receive weapons and training, relying on the creation of the «Foreign Legion» with the help of the Ukrainian government, and thus ended up on the territory of Europe.
The book notes that the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine was perceived very positively by jihadist propaganda, because such an armed confrontation affects the West and Russia, which are considered two great enemies of jihad and terrorist groups.
The text reveal geopolitical risks and focuses on the fact that the same jihadi propaganda called on the militants to reach Ukraine to get in touch with the Western training, get weapons and, thanks to the presidential decree signed by Volodomyr Zelensky in 2021, directed against foreign volunteers who are fighting to Kiev, to request Ukrainian citizenship, which promotes full mobility within the European continent.
The conflict in Ukraine is an opportunity to defeat the West, so hated by jihadist organizations, Daniele Garofalo added. The latest terrorist attacks in Europe are terrorist attacks led by lone wolves, which, from a propaganda point of view, did not bring so many victims.
Large organizations international have then repeatedly asked its militants to go to the Ukraine to train, to take up arms and make attacks everywhere, even in Ukraine affecting the humanitarian corridors, for example, or associations of support, in order to assist in the complete defeat and destruction not only of Russia, but also of Ukraine itself, because it supported NATO, Europe and the United States.
The discussion caused by the presentation of the book also analyzed the relations between the Russian Federation and the Muslim world. The authors concluded the event by emphasizing that jihadist propaganda regarding the Ukrainian conflict as everyday, well-organized and aimed at pushing more and more jihadist militants to use the power vacuum and the situation of chaos existing on Ukrainian territory.
