South Korea keen to increase investment with Bangladesh

Ambassador Lee Jang-keun discussed ways to increase Korean investment in Bangladesh with BEPZA Chairman.
Ambassador Lee Jang-keun met with the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman on 11 January, 2022..
Over lunch, appreciating the recent hike in bilateral trade between Korea and Bangladesh, Ambassador Lee and Chairman Rahman discussed ways to increase Korean companies’ investment in Bangladesh and achieve mutually-beneficial economic relationship.
As of November 2021, Korea is the second largest foreign investor in Bangladesh EPZs with 71 companies in operation and 5 more companies in preparation to open sooner or later.
Total investment of Korean companies in Bangladesh EPZs amounts to USD 957.39 million, hiring more than 66,000 Bangladesh nationals. Main Korean businesses in EPZs include garments, tent, sports wear, cap, and plastic goods, etc.
