Govt taking preparation to produce Covid-19 vaccine from next year: Salman

DHAKA, Nov 23, 2021 (BSS) –

Prime Minister’s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman Fazlur Rahman today said the government is taking all necessary initiatives to go into Covid-19 vaccine production from next year.

“Besides, Incepta has entered into an agreement with a Chinese company. They have full capacity to produce vaccines,” he said while speaking at the “Meet the Reporters” programme organised by Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) in the city.

Salman Fazlur Rahman informed that Beximco Pharmaceuticals is also building capacity for vaccine production and the process will be completed within a short time. Beximco is contacting vaccine manufacturers around the world, he noted.

The remaining Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine doses as per the contract with India’s Serum Institute will start coming from next month, he also said.

Salman F Rahman expressed hope that discipline will return to Dhaka’s transport sector if the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project is completed in the next three to four years.

Among others, DRU President Mursalin Nomani and Secretary General Moshiur Rahman Khan were present on the occasion.
