Railways Minister opens development works of West Zone stations

 

SYEDPUR, Nov 11, 2021 (BSS) –

Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan today

inaugurated modernization works of different stations under Bangladesh
Railway West Zone.

Marking the ‘Mujib Year’, a total of 55 stations across the country will be
modernized with constructing platform shades, access controlling, raising the
height of station platform for ensuring comfortable journey for passengers.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the minister said many new projects
have been taken as the incumbent government is giving importance to railways.

Referring to different development works, Sujan said new railway track is
being installed from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar, railway line is being
constructed from Khulna to Mongla and Bangabandhu railway bridge is being
constructed over Jamuna river.

Once the construction works are completed, people’s journey will be
comfortable and it will save time and costs, he mentioned.

Modernization works of stations – Tangail, Shaheed Mansur Ali, Jamtoil,
Ullapara, Baral Bridge, Chatmohor, Natore, Santahar, Joypurhat Birampur,
Parbatipur, Syedpur, Nilphamari, Domar – were inaugurated today.

The railways minister inaugurated the development works at those stations
by a train beginning his journey from Dhaka.

Railways Secretary Md Selim Reza, Bangladesh Railway (BR) Director General
Dhirenda Nath Majumder, BR Additional Director General (Infrastructure)
Kamrul Ahsan and BR West Zone General Manager Mihir Kanti Guha were present
on the occasion, among others.
