Korean Ambassador in BD visited icddr,b

LEE Jang-keun, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bangladesh 주방글라데시 대한민국 대사관 , visited icddr,b on November 02 2021.
He was accompanied by Lee Jungyoul, First Secretary of the South Korean Embassy.
They were welcomed by icddr,b’s Executive Director, Dr Tahmeed Ahmed, and the senior leadership team.
Dr Ahmed presented icddr,b’s life-saving research and hospital operations to the visiting team. The visitors were also briefed about the ongoing research collaboration with Korean institutions.
Ambassador Jang-keun, in his remarks, said, “I knew about icddr,b even before assuming my responsibilities in Bangladesh in July 2020 in the midst of the pandemic.”
“I will be happy to extend our support to icddr,b in whatever way possible to expand its collaboration with more Korean institutions and its research activities” – he added.
Ambassador Jang-keun toured icddr,b’s virology laboratory, and icddr,b’s Dhaka Hospital. Dr Mustafizur Rahman, Senior Scientist at icddr,b briefed him about the ongoing COVID-19 research, while Dr Mohammod Jobayer Chisti briefed him about his innovation – Bubble CPAP that treats children with severe pneumonia at the hospital.
Earlier in 2016, the former Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Bangladesh, H.E. Mr Lee Yun Young visited icddr,b when LG Electronics had donated 36 commercial-sized air conditioners to icddr,b’s Dhaka Hospital.
